DecipherDocs ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website decipherdocs.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our service.
We built DecipherDocs with privacy as a core principle. We collect the absolute minimum data necessary to operate the service.
What We Collect
Information You Provide
Document text and uploaded files: When you paste text or upload a document (PDF, DOCX, or TXT) for analysis, we process that content to generate your results. This content is processed in memory only and is never stored, saved, logged, or written to any database or file system. Once your analysis is complete, the content is immediately discarded from our servers.
Information Collected Automatically
IP address (hashed): We collect a one-way hash of your IP address solely for the purpose of rate limiting (preventing abuse of the free service). The hash cannot be reversed to reveal your actual IP address. These hashed values are automatically deleted every 24 hours.
Basic analytics data: We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. Plausible collects only aggregate data such as page views, referral sources, browser type, and country of origin. No individual users are tracked or identified. Vercel Analytics: We use Vercel's built-in analytics for performance monitoring (page load times, web vitals). This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not require or collect email addresses
- We do not require or collect names or personal identifiers
- We do not create user accounts or profiles
- We do not store uploaded documents or pasted text
- We do not track individual user behavior or browsing history
- We do not sell, share, or transfer any data to third parties for marketing purposes

Analytics Cookies
Plausible Analytics does not use cookies. No tracking cookies are set by our analytics.
Advertising Cookies
When advertising is active on our site, our ad network partners (such as Google AdSense) may set cookies to serve relevant ads and measure ad performance. These cookies are governed by the respective ad network's privacy policies.

Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Google Gemini API — Processes your document text to generate AI analysis. Google's API data usage policies apply. We use the API in a mode where user inputs are not used to train Google's models.
- Plausible Analytics — Privacy-friendly website analytics. Does not use cookies or collect personal data.
- Vercel — Website hosting and performance analytics.
- Upstash — Serverless database used exclusively for rate limiting.
- Google AdSense (when active) — Display advertising. Google's advertising privacy policies apply.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical measures to protect the limited data we process:
- All data transmission is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
- Document content is processed in memory and never written to persistent storage
- IP addresses are hashed using a one-way algorithm before storage
- Rate limiting data is automatically purged every 24 hours
- We do not maintain databases of user information
Your Rights
For All Users
- You can use DecipherDocs without providing any personal information
- You can clear your browser cookies at any time
- You can use browser privacy features (incognito mode, VPN) to further limit data collection
For EU/EEA Residents (GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:
- Access: Request information about any personal data we hold (note: we hold minimal data)
- Deletion: Request deletion of any personal data
- Objection: Object to data processing
- Portability: Request a copy of your data in a portable format
Since we collect minimal data and do not maintain user accounts, most personal data (hashed IP addresses) is automatically deleted within 24 hours.
For California Residents (CCPA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect
- Request deletion of personal information
- Opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
- Non-discrimination for exercising your rights
Children's Privacy
DecipherDocs is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of DecipherDocs after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
